McPhee fastest in Moto3

Scottish rider John McPhee finished the first day of the final round of the season fastest, after a late-session swap to slicks on a drying track saw him shoot up the leaderboard.

McPhee, who was a distant 19th in the first wet session, was followed by teammate Jack Miller, who also benefited from a late tyre swap.

Alex Marquez was third to the Caretta Technology pair, with Brad Binder close behind on his RW Racing machine. Jonas Folger and Maverick Vinales made up the top six after spending most of the session at the top of the board in damp conditions.

New world champion Sandro Cortese was eighth.
