Mugello MotoGP: Redding takes second pole of season

Moto2 championship leader Scott Redding took his second pole position of the season – the only Moto2 rider to do so in 2013 – at the Mugello circuit today.

The Marc VDS rider, from Gloucestershire, took pole position with a fastest time of 1’52.958. Redding was the only rider to lap under the 1’53 mark.

Takaaki Nakagami will start from second on the grid ahead of Marcel Schrotter in third.

Frenchman Johann Zarco will start from the front of the second row in fourth ahead of Spaniards Nicolas Terol and Esteve Rabat.

Championship hopeful Pol Espargaro struggled around the Mugello circuit, posting a best lap of 1’53.678, which puts the Spaniard 10th on the grid at the front of the fourth row.

Tech 3 rider Danny Kent qualified 26th with Kyle Smith in 31st.
