Parrish returns to MotoGP coverage with BT Sport

Steve Parrish will return to British television’s coverage of the MotoGP World Championship this weekend, as the veteran commentator joins Mel Sykes in the BT Sport studio to help host the broadcaster’s coverage of the Austin round of the series, with the duo joined in studio by another special guest.

“I’m really pleased to be back in the studio this weekend with Mel, and Troy Corser is coming along as well! We play some golf together during the week, so we’re going to have a chat about MotoGP this weekend as well.”

“I’m going to be doing a few weekends this year with BT Sport, depending on how the dates work out and what clashes. I think the plan is five races and four or five of the Tuesday night shows as well, but I’ve got the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT to cover as well this year, plus a few other things.”

Parrish, who formerly fronted the BBC coverage of the series alongside Matt Roberts and Charlie Cox, lost out to veteran duo Keith Huewen and Julian Ryder, and looked set to miss out on the year, until the new deal announced, and the former GP racer says he’s relishing the opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to it; BT Sport have got a great studio down there in the Olympic Park, and it’ll be quite pleasant to work on MotoGP without the long haul flights that normally go with it!”
