Texas Moto3: Miller demolishes opposition on way to first pole

1 of 1

Jack Miller has topped the timesheets to start the second race of the 2014 season on pole on his Red Bull Ajo KTM, after demolishing the opposition by nearly half a secons with his 2’16.342 lap.

Second was Efren Vazquez, leading a group of three Hondas, something that would have been unimaginable at the fast Texan circuit in 2013, showing the developemtn work put in by the Japanese factory in the past twelve months. The Estrella Galicia pair of Alex Rins and Alex Marquez were the third and fourth Hondas, 0.556 and 1.010 back on Miller.

Miller said afterwards: “It was a good day here, and the track is really good. We seem to be adapting well to the team and the track, and hopefully now we can keep building on what we’ve developed. It’s always nice to come in with a win behind you, but now it’s up to me to do the best job I can now; it’s a long season and we have to pick up points in every race.”

The Brit pair of John McPhee and Danny Kent were 15th and 16th, with the young Scotsman once again out-qualifying his more experienced compatriot, although McPhee dropped back from running as high as seventh after a crash on his fast lap at the end of the session.
