Brno Moto3: Masbou takes last corner victory

Frenchman Alexis Masbou took victory in a close fought Moto3 race at Brno which went down to the last corner on the final lap.

Masbou put a hard move on championship leader Jack Miller to take his maiden victory.

Miller, having been pushed slightly wide by Masbou, lost out in the drag to the finish line, crossing the line in fifth place. Miller remains at the top of the championship standings ahead of Alex Marquez and Efren Vazquez.

Italian rider Enea Bastianini finished second, with Brit Danny Kent claiming the final step on the podium after a late charge through the pack.

Marquez, who started from pole and led a large portion of the race finished off the podium in fourth.

Team-mate Alex Rins will no doubt be annoyed with himself as he appeared to sit up as he crossed the line on the penultimate lap while in second place – believeing the race had finished – before battling on the final lap to finish ninth ahead of Isaac Vinales and Romano Fenati.

Fenati was involved in a collision between John McPhee and Jorge Navarro forcing him wide at turn one, while McPhee and Navarro crashed out of the race.
