Brno MotoGP: Pedrosa ends Marquez streak

1 of 1

Marc Marquez’ 2014 winning streak came to an end at Brno as team-mate Dani Pedrosa took the top honours.

Marquez started from pole position but got a lack lustre start and was pushed down the field as factory Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo stretched out a lead.

Pedrosa was quick to move in to second place and reel in Lorenzo, before moving into first place and pulling away. Lorenzo was powerless and despite a last lap charge finished second, 0.410secs behind Pedrosa.

The podium was completed by Valentino Rossi who, after a long battle with Marquez, was able to pull away, although he was unable to catch Lorenzo and Pedrosa.

After the poor start Marquez struggled to find his rhythm as he was constantly under attack from Rossi, Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso in the early stages of the race.

Iannone beat Dovizioso to take fifth place in a battle which went right down to the final lap. Fellow Ducati rider Cal Crutchlow crashed out.

After a good qualifying result, Bradley Smith was unable to fight with the leaders, crossing the line in seventh place. Fellow Brit Scott Redding finished 11th.
