Paul Bird Motorsports MotoGP riders Broc Parkes and Michael Laverty will return to their superbike roots for the Oschersleben 8hr round of the Endurance World Championship, with the duo riding a second machine for the Monster Energy YART squad.

Parkes, who rode the #07 machine to fourth place at the Suzuka 8hr race alongside Josh Brookes and Kats Nakasuga, will be joined by his MotoGP teammate Laverty after the team approached the Northern Irishman following Suzuka. Parkes, an experienced endurance racer, is the lap record holder at the German track, and the former world championship winning team will no doubt be eyeing the top step of the podium after their Suzuka success.

Laverty, who has finished on the podium before in the EWC with the Honda TT Legends team, mentioned on twitter during the Japanese round that he would love a return to endurance racing; spotted by the Austrain team, he then received a call-up for the following round.

The 8hr event is the third round of the four-round series, and takes place on the 24th August at the German track. The MotoGP stars will be riding alongside the full-time Monster YART squad of  Igor Jerman, Wayne Maxwell, and Rick Olson. The team originally ran the second, factory supported, machine at Suzuka on factory Bridgestone tyres, but will revert to their usual Pirellis.
