Marc Marquez crashes in Brno test

Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has walked away unhurt from a crash during a private HRC test at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic.

The Spaniard, who has dominated the 2014 world championship with nine wins from nine races, fell in mixed conditions at turn five in this morning’s session.

The opening day of the private Honda test, which is only being attended by Marquez and teammate Dani Pedrosa, started in warm and sunny conditions.

But shortly before midday, heavy rain started to batter the Czech Republic venue and Marquez and Pedrosa started wet weather tyre testing for Bridgestone. The downpours were only localised though and the corner where Marquez crashed was actually dry, according to team reports.

Marquez lost the front of his factory Honda RC213V machine but was able to escape uninjured. Conditions are improving at Brno and Marquez and Pedrosa are expected to return to the track later.
