Jerez MotoGP: Marquez continues 100% win record in 2014

Marc Marquez claimed his first ever victory at the Jerez circuit to continue his amazing 100% record in 2014 after also claiming pole position.

Marquez was forced to battle with Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi in the early laps as the pair battled for the lead. But on lap three Marquez pulled the pin and eased away from Rossi, who was unable to respond.

Rossi held off a late charge from Dani Pedrosa to finish second, with Jorge Lorenzo a distant fourth.

Cal Crutchlow, riding with an injured hand after his crash in Texas was unable to finish the race – the Brit pulled into the pits with a front brake problem.

Crutchlow’s team-mate Andrea Dovizioso had a strong race, crossing the line in fifth after leading in to the first corner.

Bradley Smith finished the race in eighth after battlign with the Honda’s of Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl, who finished sixth and tenth respectively.
