Marc Marquez would welcome brother Alex as future teammate

Double MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has said he would welcome younger brother Alex as his future teammate in Honda’s official premier class squad.

After clinching the Moto3 title by just two-points from Aussie rival Jack Miller in Valencia earlier this month, Alex Marquez got his first chance to ride a MotoGP bike when HRC gave him a ride on its factory RC213V.

The special outing was a gift for winning the Moto3 crown and Alex completed a dozen laps, with 21-year-old Marc riding on track with him to share the experience.

Some paddock insiders already believe that Alex is being groomed for a potential factory Honda future and he could eventually partner Marc in the Repsol Honda squad.

Having become the first siblings in history to capture world titles in 2014, four-times world champion Marc says he would have no issues with his brother being his teammate in the future.

Marc said: “Of course it would be nice to race together in the future. When I was behind him (in Valencia test) I was enjoying it a lot but at the same time it was a bit scary because I saw some situations he was not under control at 100%. But it is normal if you come from Moto3. But I would like to repeat in the future and for it be to official competing in the same category. For me if it possible to race in the same team as Alex it would be really nice but you never know what is going to happen. Now I share my secrets but in the future I don’t know!”

Teenager Alex will move to Moto2 for 2015 and has already made two appearances for the Marc VDS Racing squad he will race for next season in winter tests in Jerez and Valencia.
