Suzuki never launched strong bid to sign Dani Pedrosa

Suzuki has denied talks to end Dani Pedrosa’s career long association with Honda ever got serious.

Reports had suggested that Suzuki, who will return to MotoGP full-time in 2015 after being in self-imposed exile for three years, had held serious talks with Pedrosa earlier this season.

But the Spaniard signed a new two-year deal to stay with HRC in July, which will extend his time at Honda to over a decade, despite having never captured the premier class crown since he moved up from the 250GP class in 2006.

And Suzuki boss Davide Brivio admitted that the prospect of the Spaniard leading its new MotoGP assault had barely been discussed with the 29-year-old, who is the most successful rider in premier class history never to clinch the crown.

Pedrosa always maintained his priority was to remain with HRC and he will stay alongside dominant world champion Marc Marquez until the end of 2016 at least.
Brivio told MCN: “We never really discussed with him (Pedrosa). To be honest we showed some interest but we never got the feeling that he wanted to change.”

Suzuki will line-up with Spanish duo Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales in 2015.
