2011 TT to host Mountain course Centenary festival

Next year marks 100 years of racing on the 37.73mile Mountain course and to celebrate the momentous landmark in motorcycle racing history, a ‘Milestones of the Mountain’ nostalgia festival has been created, celebrating great riders, historic machines and magic moments in the TT Mountain Course’s rich history.

The nostalgia festival will take place on June 9/10, with the Friday June 10th parade in similar in style to the re-creation of the 1907 TT that was held on the old St John’s course in 2007 to mark the 100th anniversary of the TT.

TT and Motorsport Development Manager Paul Phillips said: “We’re aiming to recreate some of the landmark events and achievements in a spectacular parade on the Friday of the Senior TT.

“We want to honour many of the most notable moments, and many of the all-time great riders who have ridden the Mountain course over the last 100 years – and will feature some of the greatest-ever TT riders and some of the most iconic and exotic machines from every decade of the TT’s history.”
