Tire manufacturer Metzeler has been confirmed as the title sponsor for the 2013 Ulster Grand Prix.

The deal will see the event become the Metzeler International Ulster Grand Prix for three years.

The announcement comes as part of the 150th anniversary of the German manufacturer, and is only a part of a series of road-racing focused events and sponsorships.

As well as the Ulster Grand Prix, the Southern 100 and Post TT races on the Isle of Man will also become title-sponsored by Metzeler.

They will also be providing tires to a host of roadracing stars as part of a new R&D program that will see the Tyco Suzukis of Guy Martin and Josh Brookes, the Gearlink Kawasaki of Alastair Seely and Stuart Easton on his return to the NW200 on the German rubber.

Other Metzeler supported racers include the MV Agustas of TT winner Gary Johnson and Kawasaki riders James Hillier and Dean Harrison.

Metzeler UK Racing Manager and former TT podium finisher Jason Griffiths commented “The worldwide interest in the three International Road Races continues to increase year on year. Each of the 3 events has a unique atmosphere and provides a real test for our tyres. I’m thrilled that Metzeler will be present this year with dedicated product development and a fantastic rider line up.

The testing has been very positive and we’re now focussing on the first appearance of the new Metzeler range at the North West 200 where Alastair Seeley is a proven race winner in all classes. The line up of Metzeler supported riders provide us with real strength in depth. May can’t arrive soon enough.”
