Camier talks about his new Aprilia WSB ride

Following months of speculation, Leon Camier has spoken about his new deal that will see him ride for the Factory Aprilia squad in World Superbike alongside Max Biaggi in 2010. After riding the Aprilia RSV4 at the penultimate round of the WSB championship at Magny Cours and then again at the season finale in Portugal, Camier has been the favourite to secure the ride.

Despite facing stiff competition from riders including Alex De Angelis, Shane Byrne and James Toseland the reigning British Superbike Champion has secured what has become arguably the most coveted ride in the series.
Speaking to MCN, Camier said:

“I’m really happy. It’s a great ride and having ridden for the team at the last two rounds I know just how much potential we’ve got for 2010. The deal has taken a long time to be confirmed, but the reason for that was due to Piaggio (Aprilia’s parent company). All the guys at Aprilia wanted me to ride the bike, but ultimately the deal had to be signed off by Piaggio and that’s now happened. I can’t wait to get out on the bike again.”

Camier can now look forward to a number of private and scheduled WSB tests over the next three months before the season kicks off in Australia at the end of February.

Camier’s new deal makes him the seventh British rider confirmed in WSB next year. The 23 year old will join Jonathan Rea, Leon Haslam, Shane Byrne, Tom Sykes, Cal Crutchlow and James Toseland in what promises to be a spectacular battle for supremacy among the UK’s best riders.
