Following the conclusion of his season competing in the AMA Sportbike Championship, 22 year old Chaz Davies has signed a three race deal to race the ParkinGO Triumph BE1 675 in the World Supersport Championship.

Davies will ride as team-mate to Australian legend Garry McCoy in the two man team following the departure of regular rider Gianluca Nannelli.

Davies campaigned an ageing Aprilia RSV in America this season, finishing ninth in the overall championship standings, but is no stranger to Supersport machinery.

During the last three seasons he rode for the Attack Kawasaki team onboard a ZX6-R in the AMA Supersport series where he secured race wins including a prestigious Daytona 200 victory.

He has previously competed in 250GP’s and as a wildcard in MotoGP, but despite being linked with rides in the past has never competed in a World Supersport race.

In preparation for his first race at Imola on 25th to 27th September, Davies completed his first test on the bike at Mugello, Italy on Tuesday.

He said: “This is my first chance to ride in World Supersport and I am excited to experience it and plan is to give it my best shot. I’ve watched the team’s results and progress this years and I think that we can aim for some strong results.”

During 2009 McCoy secured the teams best at Donington Park in June where he claimed an impressive third place podium – Triumphs first world championship podium for 40 years.

How do you think Davies will get on racing the Triumph against WSS regulars including Cal Crutchlow and Eugene Laverty?
