The World Superbike Championship will embark on a new era after announcing a ten year deal with Yakhnick Motorsport to bring WSB to Russia.

The first race at the new Moscow Raceway circuit takes place on 24th to 26th August 2012 and marks the first time a world level motorsport event will take place in Russia.

MCN are currently in Moscow where the new contract was presented and in addition to members from SBK, Infront and the FIM they were joined by world champions Carlos Checa and Chaz Davies.

Speaking to MCN, CEO Paolo Flammini said: “It is our task as the promoter to develop new markets. There are regions in the world where business is stronger and motorcycling is growing.

“In Asia the market for motorcycles is very big where as in Russia it is very interesting because even though the market for bikes is smaller there are many growing companies. These companies need to be known around the world and they need promotion so there is definitely potential for sponsorship of existing teams.”
