Lowes sets pace in World Supersport testing

Sam Lowes got his pre-season testing campaign off to a perfect start by setting the fastest time of the day onboard his Yakhnich Motorsport Yamaha R6.

The 21-year-old set a best lap of 1.39.950 to pip reigning WSS champion Kenan Sofuoglu onboard his Mahi Racing Team India Kawasaki.

Third place went to Lowes’ team-mate Vladimir Leonov despite crashing out at turn nine. Former 125GP world champion Galbor Talmasci finished the day in fourth ahead of the impressive 2012 Superstock 600 champion Michael van der Mark.

Christian Iddon has a positive first day at Phillip Island onboard the ParkinGO MV Agusta finishing in 13th place. Kev Coughlan ended the day in 17th with Jack Kennedy 24th.
