Laverty confident of improved Donington Park result

Factory Aprilia man Eugene Laverty has plenty of room for improvement this weekend at Donington Park. The 26 year old currently sits second in the overall championship standings after the opening four rounds, but has a shocking record at the Donington Park track. From two years and four races at the Leicestershire track, Laverty’s best result is 14th.

Speaking to MCN, he said: “I’m hoping for something a bit better this weekend. The truth of the matter is that I like the track and feel that I ride it well, we’ve just had no luck.”

Laverty suffered a big crash in 2011 on the factory Yamaha and ran into technical issues on his Aprilia last year.

“It was this time last year that the electronic issues we had with the bike started, but they are completely sorted now.  I think we can have a good weekend but there is a lot of competition. I feel there are probably seven guys capable of fighting for the win including Sykes, Melandri, Rea, Camier – it’s a long list.”
