Corser’s Downunder Motorsport team out of the running for 2014 WSB assault

The planned Aussie WSB team, Downunder Motorsport, will not be able to contest the 2014 championship, despite the best efforts of leading figures Tom Larsen and Troy Corser.

The deadline for teams to apply for a slot on the 2014 grid has recently passed and with not all of the required budget in place, the nascent team has decided to pull the project – for now.

Said Larsen after taking the final decision, “It is with great regret, we are going to stop the project for 2014. We have had too many setbacks with promises of budget support and partnerships, all of which have not materialised.”

The idea was to create an Aussie based team inside WSB, using top level BMW Evo machinery, but it has ended up in what Larsen hopes is temporary stasis. He said, “To say we are sorry is an understatement. We are heartbroken, but not broken. We will continue to build the relationships with the people we have already begun to work with and develop some solid ground and foundations to base our program for 2015.”
