Jerez WSB: Aprilia domination continues

Aprilia’s domination of the Jerez World Superbike round continued in second qualifying today with the Italian manufacturer securing the top four positions in the 45 minute session.

Provisional pole position went to the in form Italian Davide Giugliano who set a 1’41.371 second best to edge out fellow Aprilia privateer Toni Elias. The factory Aprilia men of Eugene Laverty and Sylvain Guintoli took third and fourth places respectively.

Tom Sykes was the first non Aprilia man in 5th spot albeit 0.652 seconds of Guigliano’s best. BMW men Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies secured sixth and seventh places respectively for the German manufacturer.

The accolade of top Ducati rider went to Italian Lorenzo Lanzi who powered his ex Effenbert 1098R to the eighth fastest time three places ahead of the official Alstare Ducati 1199 Panigale of Javier Fores.

Fixi Crescent Suzuki rider Leon Camier continued his impressive comeback from injury to secure the ninth fastest time. Fellow Brit Leon Haslam had a disastrous session ending the day in 17th position meaning he did not qualify for Superpole.
