Camier back in WSB to deputise for injured Corti

Leon Camier will once again return to the World Superbike championship this weekend at Laguna Seca, deputising for the injured Claudio Corti on the factory MV Agusta machine.

Corti, who crashed out of Superpole 1 at Portimao last weekend, has been ruled unfit to race, after a head injury in the race has left him with ongoing symptoms including memory problems. The Italian former Moto2 racer will have almost two months to recuperate following Laguna, however, with the next round of the series at Jerez in September.

Camier, left without a ride following financial problems at his Ioda Aprilia MotoGP team, rode eight races of the series so far this year to fill in for Sylvain Barrier on the BMW Italia Evo bike, after Barrier was seriously injured in a car crash. Camier took 30 points from those 8 races, compared to the 13 points gained by Corti from the 13 he has completed.
