Coghlan looking forwards to Aragon after Oz podium

Scotsman Kev Coghlan says that his performances at the opening round of the World Supersport championship last month in Philip Island is proof that he can run at the front in the 600cc class, and that he’s looking forwards to Aragon and the next round.

The Perth rider managed his best performance of his WSS career at the Australian round, finishing second on his first outing on the DMC-Panavto Yamaha, and is looking forwards to the next round at a track he knows well.

“After already picking up my best result in just the first race it feels great. Also, more from the first start I think I proved to myself that I can run at the front, we were right there with Kenan Sofuoglu and Mickey van der Mark! Now the real test will be to see if you can stay there consistently over the whole season.”

“It has been quite a smooth transition to the Yamaha; we’ve taken things step by step and are getting better all the time. I feel like I still need to adapt to the bike a little better but it’s coming. On a while we are a step forward from last year, but it’s the whole package, my approach to training and race has changed a lot over winter, everyone in the team has stepped up their game and the bike package is great! All these details have given us a real boost in terms of results.”

“Aragon is a track I’m looking forward to. We had some good speed there last year and I know the place well from my days in the Spanish CEV series. It’s a great track with lots of changes in elevation and every type of corner you could ask for. A track I’ve always enjoyed!”
