Q. I’m the second owner of my 1999 Yamaha R1 and I’ve managed to lose its service book. I’ve got a new book off the internet but I need to get it stamped up.

How do I find out who supplied the bike from new?

A. Yamaha and the other importers hold their sale records for at least a decade so that if you contact them with your bike’s Vehicle Identification Number and maybe the registration number too they’ll be able to point you at the supplying dealer.

However, If the bike’s a parallel or a grey import they won’t have its details. Yamaha UK is on: 01932-358000.
