Q. I’ve recently fitted a pair of Dunlop Roadsmarts to my bike, but I’d like to do a trackday or two. Will the Roadsmarts be fine or will the nature of track riding ruin them?

A. They’ll be fine, as long as you reduce the tyre pressures (32psi front and rear should be fine) and bear in mind that the higher speeds generated on track will reduce their tread life.

You’ll probably also find that they cook a little and begin to bobble. Normal road riding (at the manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressures) will wear away this evidence of track abuse over time.

Sadly, the nature of track riding will shorten the life of most tyres – but it’s worth it!
