David Jefferies – how he cracked the Island

David Jefferies and Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 secured themselves a special place in TT history when the Yorkshireman shattered the Formula One and 1000cc Production records. And in our special TT issue, out June 5, you can read exactly how he did it, despite being stuck in third gear on his last lap!

The TAS Suzuki rider told MCN: ” I nearly lost control of all bodily functions when I went for the next gear only to hear the limiter cut in and nothing happen.

” I’m disappointed – I reckon that last lap would have been much quicker than the last two. ” Even so, he became the first man to crack both the magic 126mph lap and the sub-18 minute lap.
