‘Rocketman’ targets 322mph

It’s been a long, long time but Richard ” Rocketman ” Brown is set to bring the motorcycle speed record back to Britain.

The record, set by American Dave Campos, of 322mph has stood for 12 years but speed freak Brown reckons he’ll crack it. He’s off to South Africa to prepare for his assault on the record in 2003.

In earlier attempts, the British engineer’s 6000bhp rocket-powered bike has managed 365mph, but failed to make the return run necessary to set an official record.
