Josh Waterman is an 11-year-old motocross racer, backed by Kawasaki, with a cupboard full of trophies. Now he can add the Motor Cycle Industry Association’ s (MCI) Oustanding Achievement Award to his collection. Why? Because Josh is profoundly deaf.

His dad, Phil, says: ” Josh has never allowed his deafness to hold him back and he is an inspiration to all other youngsters with disabilities who want to excel in sport

” He can’t hear the engine rev, so he has to rely on feel and instinct to change gear. I’m ver proud of him because he is fearless and always gives 110 per cent to win. Second is just not good enough. ”

Josh will collect his award from top popsters Liberty X at the special MCI Youth Day at the NEC Show on November 21.
