Police in Coventry are urging a rider to come forward after he fled the scene of a fatal accident last Friday.

Ralph Potts was struck by the bike in Eld Road, Foleshill, after he tried to stop his deaf, five-year-old daughter from running in the road.

The 55-year-old father of three was taken to hospital but he later died. Police say it could take days to study CCTV footage to discover the identity of the biker, but they are appealing for him to contact them first.

Seargent Kevin Doyle from Stoney Stanton Road station said: ” I understand it was a moment of panic, you will be dealt with compassionately, but it is essential you contact us to help with the enquiry. ”

Anyone with information that could help the enquiry is asked to call: 0845-113-5000 and ask for Pc Mills in the road policing unit.
