Tell us about your hot weekend

Sensational racing at home and abroad, the whole country basking in a glorious late summer sun – definitely a weekend to remember, what was the highpoint for you?

Was it that long ride up to MCN Donington Park to roar on Hizzy with your mates? Maybe it was that storming last lapper sitting on the edge of your seat as Edwards and Bayliss went at it? Did you sneak out of the house promising you’d be back in five minutes, but you were gone for five hours? And was the row afterwards worth it?

Motorcyclenews.com’s Dave Batchelor (username daveb) went racing up at Snetterton, but after this disaster perhaps he ought to take up a basic mechanics course before the next round…

He says ” What a weekend. Great weather and new bike I couldn’t wait for my race. I hadn’t had time to even ride it first, but I was confident it was okay.

” But as soon as I went out in Saturday’s practice I was stunned at how slow it was. It’s Honda CBR400, but it felt more like a scooter it was so underpowered.

” I phoned the bloke I bought it off afterwards. I explained it felt like it only about 40bhp, and knowing the depth of my mechanical savvy, he said he’d be over to sort it as soon as he could.

” He was running late, so my first race (in the Rookie 400s) was a nightmare. Down Snetterton’s long back straight I was getting whipped as my bike pulled to a maximum of around 90mph.

” Afterwards we whipped the carb tops off to reveal…a 33bhp restrictor kit! Funny thing was – I didn’t even finish last! Fishing that out made a huge difference – scrapped my way to a best ever 11th place on Sunday. Unforgettable! ”
