Driver gets 30 years for killing rider

1 of 1

A woman with two previous convictions for drink driving was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment by a judge in the U.S. after killing a motorcyclist while drunk at the wheel.

Viki Arrington had a blood/alcohol level five times the legal limit when she struck Carol Minton’s bike head-on in Bedford County, Virginia.

Arrington becomes the first person in Virginia to be convicted of second degree murder for a drink driving fatality – she’s expected to serve 20 years of her sentence.

The longest sentence handed down for a drink driving charge in the UK is 15 years, for a man who killed six people in one horrific smash in Yorkshire last year.
