Honda recalls Silverwings

1 of 1

Honda is recalling all its Silverwing big scooters over fears that defective spokes could cause the rear wheel to collapse.

The recall affects 600 Silverwings sold in the UK and 21,395 bikes worldwide.

The Silverwings concerned were manufactured between October 2001 and August this year.

So far, Honda says it is not aware of any injuries caused by the failures, but it recognises the wheel can fail if the bike repeatedly hits potholes. Owners should return their bikes to their dealer for advice.

Honda anticipates the total costs of the recall at £10 million.
