Charlie’s Angels go Full Throttle off road

1 of 1

Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu will be getting dirty this summer when Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle arrives in cinemas.

The sequel to Charlie’s Angels features the trio fighting villains on motocross bikes, so over twenty top supercross racers were enlisted to make sure the action scenes worked.

The list includes Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, and Mike Jones. Freestyle legend Mike Metzger even had to face a new challenge, when he had to perform his signature backflip wearing a chest protector modified with false breasts, in order to double for star Cameron Diaz. The riders all spent three days showing off their best freestyle moves, so expect plenty of two-wheeled action.

The scenes were shot on an extra large supercross track, made especially for the film. The original plan had been to use footage from a 2002 supercross race in Anaheim, but this had to be scrapped due to timing and budget issues.

This means two new movies will feature plenty of two-wheeled action in 2003, with Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle going up against Bikes Boyz.
