Motorcyclists praised for ‘heroic’ actions

A group of motorcyclists have been praised after they stopped to pull casualties from a crashed car just before it caught fire.

The ambulance service has hailed the bikers as heroes after the incident, which took place on the westbound carriageway of the A64 near York on Sunday morning. A black Peugeot 307 containing six people left the road and careered into a ditch.

The heroes saw what had happened, stopped, and pulled the occupants clear moments before the car caught fire. By the time fire crews arrived a few minutes later, the blaze had engulfed the car.

” Things would have been a lot worse if the motorcyclists hadn’t been around, ” said an ambulance service spokesman.
