Football mascot leads teams out on a bike

A 42-year-old recovering alcoholic dressed as a Viking will be riding on to American football pitches on a Viper Diablo cruiser this season.

Ragnar, who holds the world record for shaving a beard with an axe (8min 43 seconds), has been the team mascot for the Minnesota Vikings since 1994. Ragnar, real name Joseph Juranitch leads the team out for each game.

The Diablo Viper was originally billed at the Norton Nemesis (see link on the right). It’s powered by a 125 cubic inch Merch Performance engine, with a six-speed gearbox, dual exhausts, and plenty of chrome. All the chrome will mean it’ll provide a handy beard-trimming mirror for Ragnar.

Unfortunately it’s unlikely he’ll get to ride a Skol Bandit Suzuki, but maybe the Diablo could be fitted with Bridgestone Battlax tyres?

Which sports mascots in the UK could do with two-wheeled transport? Are there any sports that could be transformed by adding bikes? Post your suggestions on the News message board by clicking on the link on the right.
