RAC staff choose bikes

RAC headquarters staff are being offered bikes to beat the traffic nightmare caused by motorway resurfacing and repairs on the M6 and the Aston Expressway A38(M).

From Monday August 23 to Friday September 3 staff can choose to use 125cc motorcycles or scooters supplied by Yamaha in a trial aimed at highlighting how bikes beat traffic, cut travel times, reduce pollution and keep motoring costs down.

Greg Elson, National Account Manager RAC Business Solutions, said: “RAC is all for motorists having choice in how they get from A to B, and what better way than to offer this?

“To many commuters it seems like the roadworks have been going on forever, and they are not scheduled to finish until mid November, so it will be interesting to see whether two wheels relieve some of the stresses that they say they are now facing.”

Yamaha’s Miles Taylor, said: “Bikes and scooters can be a great alternative to cars from a financial and time saving perspective, not to mention the potential environmental benefits to our already congested cities.”
