Video: Tourer thrashed

MCN road tester Adam Child recently rode his long-term test BMW R1200RT to Magny Cours and he just couldn’t resist taking ‘Bertha’ out for a spin on the track.

Click the links below to see the five astonishing laps of Chad muscling the big tourer round the French track and giving some of the sports bike riders a run for their money while laughing like a hyena and scaring himself silly. And it’s all accompanied by music from the big tourer’s CD player.

The boxer twin engined continent crosser did BMW proud but five laps of high speed action took its toll with melting tyres and brakes deciding they’d had enough at the end of the fifth lap.

And just so you can see how it should be done we’ve also included a lap of the track done on a 2004 GSX-R1000 by racer Mike Edwards, it all makes for some compelling viewing.
