Own a GP bike

1 of 1

You could own your own Team KR MotoGP bike, or a 1961 Honda RC162 Mike Hailwood replica with an online auction.

The Monterey Classic Bike auction takes place on Saturday July 9, to coincide with the U.S. MotoGP race weekend at the Laguna Seca circuit. And if you can’t make it to the U.S., you can also place your bids and watch the auction live online.

The Team KR machine is a five-cylinder four stroke with 230+ horsepower, and a 230mph top speed. It weighs just 299lbs and was built to be ridden by Kurtis Roberts in MotoGP. As most machines are either destroyed at the end of each season or placed in manufacturer museums, it’s a rare chance to own your own GP racer.

Meanwhile one of the most famous TT bikes, the Honda RC162 Mike Hailwood Replica is also up for grabs. One of only three machines in existence, the RC162 is legendary, winning 10 out of 11 GPs in 1961, and giving Hailwood the riders championship.

The 45 horsepower classic is a four-cylinder, fourstroke 250cc, which weighs just 280lbs and is capable of 140mph.

There are other lots available, including a brand new KTM Supermoto, a 1998 Ducati 916-SPS, and a 1970 Husqvarna.

The original RC162 used by Mike Hailwood is kept in the Honda Collection Hall at the Twin-Ring Motegi circuit in Japan. MCN Editor Marc Potter visited the museum in 2001, and you can read about his experience, here.
