Air ambulance nightmare

1 of 1

A woman who took part in Sunday’s (Sep 4) ride for Essex’s Air Ambulance ended the day being airlifted to hospital by the helicopter she was raising funds for – after an accident on the way home.

A man and a boy pillion on another bike were also hurt in the incident.

All three had been on the Essex Air Ambulance run, from Dunton to Harwich, earlier in the day.

The accident happened at around 4pm on the London-bound A12 at Kelvedon.

The woman was in a critical condition on Monday morning – having suffered two heart-attacks. The man and boy were not seriously injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who saw three bikes riding along the A12 from Marks Tey towards Kelvedon – two of which were blue Suzukis – should contact PC Steve Burton on 01245 452918.

Essex air ambulance is raising further funds with a charity sale of a helmet signed by Valentino Rossi, on MCN Auctions. See link, right.
