Bikers like bus lanes

71% of bikers believe that they should be allowed to use bus lanes. according to a Bennetts biker survey released earlier.

At the moment motorcyclists can only use certain bus lanes at certain times, but many of the 500 surveyed believe that being allowed in bus lanes would increase safety.

It seems that if bikers were able to use bus lanes it would reduce filtering and increase visibility. 55% of those interviewed also agreed that there should be specific speed restrictions and that bus lane usage should only be at peak times.

Kal Samara, Bennetts Managing Director, said, “From our own claims data bikers have reported they feel endangered by other motorists, especially on busy roads so bus lanes would serve to give them extra security whilst also reducing congestion.”
