Bikers' top hates

1 of 1

Here’s a tip. If you want to stay in the good graces of bikers, don’t lane hog. This is according to the results of a recent motorcyclenews.com survey, which found that 33 per cent of motorcyclists can’t stand motorists who like to hang out in the right lane.
“Right lane cruisers should have their licenses revoked. They are too stupid to be driving,” said one irritated reader.
Other annoyances included tailgaters at 16 per cent, a lack of awareness/poor concentration from drivers at 9.3 per cent and 6 per cent of bikers who fear for their lives when it comes to driving while using a mobile phone.

The survey was a joint effort with the RAC Foundation, the Freight Transport Association, the Institute of Advanced Motorists and the British School of Motoring to raise awareness of National Motorway Month throughout August.
On the other hand, 46 per cent of motorists said what really gets under their skin are HGV drivers who cut them up. Discourteous driving came in at a distant second with 11 per cent of the vote and tailgating and failing to give way tied for third at 8 per cent.
Those middle lane hogs were back again as one of the top complaints of truckers. Others included motorists who don’t know the rules about joining the motorway, and ‘swoopers’ or motorists who make late decisions and cut across all three lanes.
