MAG recruit ex cop

A former Chief Superintendent of North Yorkshire Police has begun his new role with the Motorcycle Action Group.

David Short has joined MAG as head of their political campaigns section in the UK.

The 50-year-old retired from the police earlier this year after more than 30 years service. He is an enthusiastic rider and proud owner of a Ducati S4RS 1000 Monster, a Yamaha Fazer and two classic Royal Enfield’s.

MAG President, Ian Mutch, said, “We don’t want to fight society, we want to help run it. MAG is on a roll right now. MAG has never had such an intellectual, well connected and harmonious team as currently steer the organisation and we encourage all riders to support us.”

In his former role David was the founder of the ‘Bike Safe’ motorcycle safety initiative and he was awarded the Prince Michael of Kent Road Safety award for his innovative approach to motorcycle casualty reduction. Bike Safe is now a national programme.

Short added: “I am absolutely delighted to have secured this position. It will enable me to channel all my, experience, negotiating and networking skills into something that I care passionately about.”
