GMT change on accidents

1 of 1

Changing UK time to be in line with Europe would cut accidents and help the environment according to scientists at Cambridge University.

The study reckons abandoning Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and aligning UK time with that of Europe could cut evening accident rates.

This is because it would be lighter for longer during the winter.

Britain did try an experiment with GMT in 1968 but it was abandoned in 1971 after complaints from people who had to work early in the morning as it stayed darker for longer.

What do you think of the proposals?

Do you want lighter evenings?

Or does the thought of it staying darker for longer in the morning put you off the idea?
