Clock ticking for North Wales Police Chief Richard Brunstrom

Richard Brunstrom is due to find out at the end of July whether he is to be sacked as chief constable for North Wales Police.

That’s when the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is due to conclude its investigation into Brunstrom’s use of photos of a decapitated biker without the family’s permission.

Brunstrom showed images of 40-year-old Mark Gibney’s fatal crash to journalists at a press conference to launch a road safety campaign in April.

An IPCC spokesman said the verdict been delayed because a senior investigator had been “off sick for a week or so”. He said: “We’re hoping he’s going to be back in the next day or two and if that’s the case then we anticipate that we should conclude by the end of July.”
