Celebrity lawyer walks free after seven months

Nick Freeman, also known as Mr Loophole for his ability to successfully defend celebrities such as David Beckham and Caprice in motoring cases, has been told he will not face charges after being arrested on suspicion of perverting the justice seven months ago.

Freeman, 49, from Mere in Cheshire was told he can go free last week after being arrested by Gwent Police back in October.

“The last seven months have been physically, mentally and emotionally draining,” said Freeman. “For the avoidance of doubt, the case which was being investigated concerned a client I had never met, never spoken to, and did not defend in court.”

Mr Freeman also said he would resume his career at his Manchester firm. Gwent police has confirmed a 45-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the same investigation at the same time last year remains on police bail.
