Long Way Down latest

Ewan McGregor and sidekick Charley Boorman have just let slip their latest location on the Long Way Down trip on the Radio One Breakfast Show.

They have been keeping their progress fairly secret for security reasons, but speaking to DJ Chris Moyles McGregor said:

“I’m getting 300 miles from a tank of fuel on my bike. We’ve just come through Libya and encountered a huge sandstorm.

“I’m missing the mundane things like taking out the bins, and taking the kids to school.”

Boorman added: “I’m missing watching MotoGP and my family, too.”

The duo took a ferry from Sicily into Tunisia, but as McGregor explained they ran into some difficulties with customs getting off the boat.

“We had six or seven satellite phones, and Tunisian customs kept three of them, despite having all of the correct documents and paperwork for them. We did get them back after lots of passing Vodka bottles and cash around.”

The pair also stopped in Tunisia to visit the Star Wars set used for Luke Skywalker’s home in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope.

They were supplied with moulded earpieces to allow them to listen to music on MP3 players, and the pair say they have been listening to “load of things from opera to audio books”.

McGregor revealed he’s also had a softer seat sent out by airmail because the standard seat was giving him bum ache.
