Uncalibrated laser speed guns - tell us your story

1 of 1

The ban on laser speed guns has now been lifted after officers were told to check their calibration properly.

A three-week ban on the use of laser guns was enforced because officers had not been checking their machines after their use.

This second check ensures the device has not become faulty during enforcement and would mean a watertight prosecution.

The ban was enforced following a court case in Folkestone with no fixed penalty notices issued during that time.

We are now looking for motorcyclists who have received a NIP and then discover later the speed gun was not calibrated.

Log in to www.motorcyclenews.com and add your comment to see who has been affected and how.

Check out the reaction by Kent Police in this week’s MCN, available from October 31, 2007.
