Steve Hislop crash inquiry set to begin on Monday

A fatal accident inquiry into the death of Steve Hislop in a helicopter crash in the Borders is scheduled to open in Edinburgh on Monday (April 28, 2008).

The case was originally due to be heard in Jedburgh in December, but was moved to Edinburgh Sheriff Court due to concerns that the local court could be overwhelmed.

The inquiry is expected to last for five days, and would seek to establish the cause of Steve Hislop’s crash on a hillside close to his home town of Hawick in 2003.

An Air Accident Investigation in 2005 concluded that the helicopter’s rotors had struck the tail boom, but failed to state what could have caused that collision.
