Motorcycle sales slump in November

Motorcycle sales dropped 16% in November – not as bad as the car market but still a big drop from the four per cent rise seen in October according to figures from the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI).

A total of 7,517 mopeds, scooters and motorcycles were registered in November, compared with 8,947 in the same month 2007. Over the first 11 months of the year, registrations are just 2.4 per cent down – much less than the car market which are down 10.7% over the same year.

Car sales were recently revealed to have dropped by 36.8% in November – the biggest drop in many years – bike sales are proving to be more resilient to the global financial crisis.
