Willie G. Davidson unveils statue at Harley Davidson Museum

Willie G. Davidson, grandson of the founders of Harley Davidson has unveiled a statue at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee as a gift.

The statue is to commemorate the opening of the Harley Davidson Museum, which officially opens on July 12.

Willie G. Davidson, senior vice president and chief styling officer for Harley Davidson unveiled the statue of a hill climber which he says represents motorcycle competition and enthusiastic culture.

The statue was built in bronze and was designed by Harley Davidson licensed artist Jeff Decker, who was asked to design the statue personally by the Davidson family.

Wille G. Davidson said: “The Harley-Davidson Museum means so much to me and my family that we wanted to leave something permanent here as a gift.

“We chose the hill climber as a subject because it portrays the thrill and adventure of the sport and because of the important role motorcycle competition played in developing enthusiast culture.”
