Council launches secure motorcycle parking

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s new motorcycle parking scheme is officially launched today (Wednesday), offering residents of the borough secure parking for their two-wheelers.

The council has expanded the number of motorcycle parking bays from 1600 to 2600 in response to growth in the number of motorcycles parking in the area since the introduction of the London congestion charge in 2003.

Roughly half of all motorcycle bays in the borough are set aside for visitors, with the remainder being allocated to residents.

Residents parking bays come with ground anchors built-in, and the council has made leading motorcycle insurance companies aware of the move in a bid to secure discounts for riders using the bays.
